The first osseo integrated implant was a one-piece implant, nearly two thousand years ago. Since the 80's, two-piece implants represent a vast majority of the market. The connections have evolved, moving from external to internal and getting away from micro movements by different concepts. The last trend has been to move away the micro gap from the bone, realizing the platform-switching concept. The recent One Piece implants are offering a further evolution as there is no micro gap at all. Other advantages of this solution are the absence of screw loosening, a better mechanical resistance and no rupture of the soft tissue seal. Immediate temporization being mandatory, immediate loading is the potential drawback of this solution.
